over the weekend in Chicago, 52 people were shot in gun related crime, 8 of those people died......... Chicago has a ban on guns within the city limits.............hhhhmmmmm...... In my opinion, ALL gun laws are made for the law abiding citizen.

Amen to that sims. Government control over our lives is the problem in this country. I get it that we need government to an extent, but you don't ban the use of guns... you regulate it so thatif someone has a felony conviction or history of gun violence, they don't get a gun.

You couldn't be more correct. The statistics show that concealed carry license holders commit little to no gun crimes. There is always the occasional domestic violence case or something for anti-gun people to hang their hat on, but for the most part, gun crimes are committed by people who obtain them illegally.

England is the perfect case-scenario. They banned nearly all guns, with the exception of some hunting rifles, many years ago. Check out the video below of people turning over their guns to government officials. The government promised that crime would decrease and people would be protected by the police. Most police in England don't even carry guns now....and now years later...the citizens want their gun rights back. England has 40% more gun crime now than it did before the ban. Police are outgunned and the people can't do a thing about it. Giving up your rights to government is a very slippery slope.

I'm not sure how I feel about gun control. I've always been against guns, but you guys have some good points. In my neck of the woods, specifically Peoria, IL, there were 6 shootings in 13 hours. One of the victims died. We've had 14 murders in Peoria this year so far. I don't live in the city anymore, but I know we need to pray for peace for sure. It saddens me to think of the outbreak of violence in the city I love. Maybe outreach is needed, too. Show the young people living that lifestyle that they don't have to. That there's a better way. One way. Through Christ.

You hit the nail on the head man. That's exactly what's needed. Jesus said in the sermon on the mount that, "the lame, the sick, the dying, are ALL God's people" How do we expect them to know Christ's love for them if we don't go to the inner city areas and attempt to reach out? There are TONS of outreach community centers in those areas. That actually gave me a good idea. What about a partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America? Have local chapters get involved with their local Boys & Girls Club... [smilie=5bouncy.gif]

A friend of mine that used to go to our church (he's a youth pastor at another church now) that has a body/costumizing shop called Glory to Glory Customs that did work with troubled teens that came out of detention centers and such. He would have them come and work with him as he mentored them. He did some pretty fly customs too. lol I'm so old school..."pretty fly".

The founders of our great country, realize the importance of the right to bear arms, the 2nd Amendment...... One of the first things tyrants, such as Adolf Hitler, do is take away the guns of the people......

Take away their guns... what do they have left to defend their homes with?

Heres my little piece on this..... IF guns are outlawed in Chicago then how did the people get shot?? ITS BECAUSE THE LAW ONLY WORKS FOR LAW ABIDING CITIZENS. The criminals or "Zombies" as I call them will ALWAYS find a way to get a weapon. I proudly have a Concealed Weapon permit and carry a .40 cal., Smith & Wesson, I PRAY TO GOD I never have to use it BUT if my life, my Familys life or an unknown persons life was in jeapordy I would use it to stop the situation. Heres the deal, you NEVER want to use a gun but it sure would suck to see your Wife, Husband or CHILDREN got ASSASINATED in front of you by a TURD who doesnt follow the law like you do because you happen to live in a place where your 2nd ammendment rights have been stripped. Id rather be judged by 10 than carried by 6!! Molan Labe!! God Bless and De Colores!!! :brave:

My idea of gun control is a tight grip, smooth trigger pull, sights @ center of mass, & hitting what you aim at.

In this case: why would more law make those who do not live by the law abide by new law?
It just mekes it more difficult for those who want to "legaly" defend themselves.
